Grover Cleveland was a very good president. He was the first Democrat in office since James Bucahanon, which was before the Civil War. He was good in the presidency for the vetoes of many bills and the fact that he was the first man to be elected for two terms in non-consecutive terms. This is why I am rewarding him with an A.
The goals of Clevleand in his presidency was to regulate the railroads, move towards the gold standard, and reduce the high protective tariff. He accomplished these by passing many acts and the repealing of many acts would help regulate all of these. The repealing of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act moved the currency more towards the gold standard which would help the national economy. He also passed the Interstate Commerce Act which regulated transportation between the different states. This would also help out the national economy. These are just a couple of the ways that Grover Cleveland helped the nation out during his presidency.
Cleveland's relationship with Congress was not very good, but it got the job done. It wasn't that great because Cleveland vetoed most of the bills that Congress had passed. This upset the members of Congress because then when Cleveland wanted something done, they weren't very supportive of it. However Clevand was able to accomplish most of his goals with this bitter relationship. He was able to pass the Interstate Commerce Act and he was able to repeal the Sherman Silver Purchase Act. These both helped stimulate the economy which was really good for the nation.
The best thing that Cleveland's administration did was the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act. This stimulated the national economy. By removing the silver from backing the currency, this raised the price of the currency and caused inflation. This in turn made people become richer than what they were. The worst thing that Cleveland's administration did was the use of the vetoes so much. He vetoed way to many things which could have helped out the nation. However he also vetoed things that deserved it so basically it wasn't all that bad. There isn't anything that was really bad, so the use of the veto so much was really bad.
I believe that Cleveland impacted the nation for many years to come. He helped stimulate the economy and got rid of the high protective tariff. He also didn't take "crap" from anyone which shows that he was a strong president. This is why he deserves the grade of an A.
